LOS ANGELES, CA — At least five people were hurt in a shooting outside a South Los Angeles supermarket Tuesday afternoon.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire near Manchester Avenue and Figueroa Street in the Vermont Vista area at around 2:30 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Paramedics transported four victims to local hospitals. One was listed in critical condition, two in serious condition and a fourth was in fair condition with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department
A fifth person took themselves to a hospital, KTLA reported.
Three of the victims were male, according to police.
Police said the suspect was believed to be traveling in a white sedan, but did not provide a description.
A witness reported to KTLA hearing what sounded like automatic gunfire before seeing five people lying in a parking lot in front of a market. The shooting occurred in a strip mall that includes a doughnut shop, pizzeria and small supermarket.
