Farewell: Samantha Katz

In keeping with our tradition, we ask our team members to share a few last words about the great work they have done and their experience with us.

Name: Samantha Katz
Title: Summer Planning Intern

Tell us a bit about your time at Circulate (planning, policy, roles, how long).

As a planning intern over the past 9 weeks, I have gotten the opportunity to work on a bit of everything Circulate does for the San Diego region. From tabling at community events to bike and walk audits to assisting with a major policy report, The Powerless Brokers. I am thankful to have experienced the full range of both planning and policy work that embody Circulate’s processes.

What was your favorite part of working at Circulate?

The Circulate team was the best part of working at Circulate. Everyone was welcoming and positive. I always loved hosting events and working with other members of the team.

What are your favorite projects or accomplishments from your time at Circulate?

My favorite project was helping film a video for the Imperial Beach OTS Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Project. It was one of the first projects I worked on and it was amazing to  see and use the bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure Circulate’s planning department developed. Additionally, I am so proud to be mentioned in Circulate’s, “The Powerless Brokers,” for the small part I did to assist with designing the report.

What are you doing next, and what are your career plans?

In September, I’ll be starting my second year at California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo studying City and Regional Planning. I’ll be starting studio and learning more about the technical side, like GIS, of the planning field. I am excited to jump back into my education, which hopefully will allow me to work in environmental and urban design in the future.
