Robot KaraokeTP > Robot Karaoke bee-boo-bops back to the Skunk Room at the Elysian Theater this Friday night. The monthly karaoke shindig takes the lyrics any song with words from a specific text, then syncs each line syllable-for-syllable using their signature WEIRD algorithm. Think something like a Yelp review for psychics to the tune of Total Eclipse of the Heart. Each song has never been heard before and will never be heard again. Singers will include local comedians, karaoke ringers and audience volunteers (sing as a group too!). Tickets are $10. Show starts at 8 p.m. More info here.

Friday Movie Night at Ovation Hollywood M FA > Ovation Hollywood’s monthly outdoor movie returns this Friday with a screening of The Goonies, preceded by a 80’s party with DJ-spun tunes in the courtyard. If you RSVP in advance you can receive a blanket and complimentary popcorn voucher from the TCL Chinese-6 Theatres (while supplies last). Friday Night Wine Tastings at Barnsdall ParkM > Friday night wine tasting continue at the Barnsdall Art Park West Lawn this week. Now in its 16th season tickets cost $45 and get you a flight of wines curated by Silverlake Wine, plus access to a rotation of food trucks, all supported by tunes from local DJs and sweet sunset views of the Hollywood Sign and Griffith Park Observatory. Jazz at LACMAFA > The Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Friday Night Jazz series continues this week with another concerts at Smidt Welcome Plaza. For this week, catch a concert by Trevor Ware & Positive People featuring Sidney Jacobs. PLUS: Remember that LACMA is free to visit for L.A. Beach Movie Nights at Dockweiler FA > LA County Beaches & Harbors has been hosting free summer movie nights at Dockweiler Youth Center every Friday evening, and the series continues this week with a screening of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice at 8 p.m. All seating is first-come, first-served. 6th Annual Leimert Park Jazz Festival M FA TP > This Saturday, the 2025 Leimert Park Jazz Festival offers a jam-packed day of jazz sets supported by a visual arts pavilion, pop-up boutiques, a kids zone, wine lounge, and a food court at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza. General admission is a sliding scale from free to $5 and even a $125 VIP options that comes with a seat, food, beverages and more. More info here.

Metro Art Presents: Bollywood Express at Union StationM FA > This Saturday, Union Station lights up with Indian music, dance, and community spirit. Bollywood Express transforms the iconic Ticket Concourse into a festive atmosphere featuring high-energy performances from Blue13 Dance Company, beats from DJ Sandeep Kumar, dhol drumming by Dholnation, henna artistry by Neha Assar, and flavorful Bollywood Bites. Latin Sounds at LACMAFA > LACMA Latin Sounds summer of outdoor concerts at Hancock Park puts the finishing touches on their season this Saturday with a performance by La Verdad, a premier West Coast Latin music ensemble headed by Grammy Award–winning singer-songwriter Gabriel Gonzalel. Marina Movie NightsFA > The Department of Beaches and Harbors hosts Marina Movie Nights at Burton Chace Park in Marina del Rey on select Saturdays in August and September. Porsche Cruise-In at The Petersen -> For all the Porsche lovers out there, this weekend the Petersen Automotive Museum celebrates the legacy and passion of all things Porsche with a special cruise-in event on Sunday. Expect hundreds of stunning Porsches on-hand, complimentary coffee and bagels, and plenty of fellow enthusiasts to hang out with. GA tickets ($25) include access to the museum as well. Uptown Provisions x Barbakush (August 30-31) -> This weekend, Uptown Provisions in Whittier brings in Boyle Heights’ barbacoa legends Barbakush for a two-day feast. On Saturday (11 a.m.–4 p.m.), sink your teeth into the “Head-to-Tail Lamb Barbacoa Mexican Dip”—a loaded sandwich with crispy shallots, goat cheese, rosemary aioli, onion jam, salsa verde macha, and citrus-drenched arugula on a seeded roll, served with rich consomé for dipping. On Sunday (5–9 p.m.), Barbacoa Queen Petra Zavaleta takes over the dining room, serving her iconic Puebla-style lamb barbacoa with handmade tortillas, fiery salsas, tacos, lamb by the pound, and steaming bowls of consomé. Highlights include 626 Hospitality Group’s Smorg-only creations (ice cream sparklers, affogatos, specialty drinks), Lefty Gelateria’s small-batch scoops and sweet potato gelato brûlée sundae, Mateo’s truck full of classic nieves and paletas, and Pampas Heladas Argentinos serving helados in flavors like dulce de leche, pistachio, and flan, paired with alfajores and cubanitos.
