PHOENIX — The final long-term ramp closure for the Loop 101 Pima Freeway widening project in Scottsdale will go into effect next week, officials announced Thursday.
The off-ramp from the southbound side of the freeway at Raintree Drive will close at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
It will be closed for 60 days and is scheduled to reopen in early November.
The closure of the ramp will allow crews to reconstruct it to fit into the wider layout of the freeway.
To get around the closure, drivers should exit southbound Loop 101 at Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard, get on the frontage road and re-enter the freeway at Raintree Drive.
Details on Loop 101 Pima Freeway widening project
Since early 2024, work has been ongoing to add one lane to each side of the Loop 101 Pima Freeway between Shea Boulevard and Princess Drive/Pima Road.
As part of the project, a diamond interchange is being installed at Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard, additional turn lanes are being added at Raintree Drive and Shea Boulevard and lighting is being upgraded on the freeway and on the on- and off-ramps.
The $108 million project is expected to be completed early next year.
