1. Texas AG opens investigation into Plano ISD for alleged antisemitic, anti-Israel rhetoric in classrooms

On Thursday, Attorney General Ken Paxton launched an investigation into Plano Independent School District for “permitting and facilitating antisemitic behavior,” according to a letter addressed to Plano ISD Superintendent Theresa Williams.

In the letter, Paxton alleges “that teachers are presenting biased materials and insisting that students take a pro-Palestinian view.”

2. Tim Duncan documentary to premiere at Austin Film Festival

A documentary about The Big Fundamental will soon debut at this year’s Austin Film Festival.

“The Boy From St. Croix” offers an in-depth look at San Antonio Spurs legend Tim Duncan and his upbringing in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The film is a family affair, with Duncan’s brother Scott Duncan directing. 

3. New immigration detention center opens at El Paso’s Fort Bliss

President Donald Trump is promising mass deportations, and that will require creating more detention space. A new detention facility, with plans to be the biggest in the country, is now open on a military base in Texas.

“We have limited resources in our community, and this is definitely a strain on local resources, whether they be medical resources or utility resources,” said Rep. Veronica Escobar, D-El Paso.

Southwest Airlines CEO says Austin could become busiest airport in Texas

Southwest Airlines has big plans for the Texas Capitol.

Bob Jordan, CEO of Southwest Airlines Co., said the Dallas-based airline said the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport could become their busiest airport in Texas.
