AUSTIN, Texas — Two people were injured after a flight from Aspen to Houston was diverted to Austin on Thursday due to turbulence.

SkyWest Flight 5971, operating as United Express from Aspen to Houston, was diverted to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, according to the airline.

SkyWest said that the flight landed safely and was met by medical personnel with Austin-Travis County EMS on the ground.

ATCEMS said that medics evaluated 39 passengers and four crew members for potential injuries, according to the airport.

Two adult patients were taken to area hospitals out of an abundance of caution, the airport said. No injuries are life-threatening.
