With 20 years of operation, this bookstore first debuted in L.A. back in 2005 inside a Downtown Los Angeles loft, and quickly became a local staple that earned it the chance to move to its current location spanning 22,000 square feet, which used to be a bank.
Famous not only for its size and the literary gems you can find inside, this store is also beloved for its beauty and Instagram-worthy décor, making it officially one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world, according to The 1000 Libraries Awards 2025.
In May 2025, the 1000 Libraries Awards team nominated 19 exceptional bookshops for their outstanding work in keeping the magic of books alive. During this time, over 200,000 people voted for their favorite spots for bookworming around the globe, crowning The Last Bookstore at position #10.
The Last Bookstore is one of California’s largest new and used bookstores, as Condé Nast Traveler named it back in 2019. It features over 250,000 books, vinyl records, and graphic novels across two floors, plus an arts and rare books annex.
