FORT WORTH – Cheryl Lynn Ballew, 81, passed away on August 22, 2025. Visitation: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Greenwood Funeral Home in Memorial Suite B, 3344 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, Texas 76107. Graveside Service: 12 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2025, Greenwood Memorial Park. Cheryl was born on July 11, 1944, to Melba Louise and Robert Handley Ballew of Fort Worth, Texas. She was a student at Polytechnic High School, “Class of 1962”. She was a full time mother and homemaker for most of her life. She was a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine. Cheryl was a Christian woman who loved her family. She was kind, loving, friendly, and never met a stranger, always putting others before herself. Her heart was golden and her door was always open for anyone in need of a safe place and a friendly ear to listen. She loved the outdoors, her football “Go Cowboys”, and cooking on the grill while relaxing in her pool. The only thing she requested was for her food to be burnt! She loved the ocean, traveling (especially a road trip), music, good food, and going to “WinStar”! She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Cheryl was always up for fun and had a wild and free spirit that so many people were drawn to. She was happiest when she was on her scooter, making her rounds in the neighborhood sharing a friendly wave and smile. This world has truly lost a precious life and a shimmering bright shining star. Heaven has undeniably gained an angel with a heart of gold! Cheryl was preceded by her parents, Robert Handley Ballew and Melba Louise Stepp-Ballew; brother, Robert Carroll Ballew; daughter, Devra Lynn Engen-Hunter; and daughter, Kristi Lauren Anderson.
