The car went off the road and struck two traffic sign poles, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two people were killed in a single-vehicle crash on I-10 near mile marker 352 Friday.

The two were traveling in eastbound in the right travel lane when the driver failed to maintain control of the vehicle, a Nissan Versa, according to Florida Highway Patrol. This caused the car to run off the roadway to the right shoulder.

According to the FHP report, the right side of the Versa sideswiped a standing traffic sign pole; the front then hit another traffic sign pole head on. The vehicle came to a stop in front of the second traffic sign pole.

Both the driver and passenger were pronounced dead on scene.

The driver was a 74-year-old man from Jacksonville; the woman was a 69-year-old woman from Jacksonville.
