Rain Thursday night kicked off a stormy Labor Day weekend, and more is on the way.

Rain was widespread but light across Dallas-Fort Worth Thursday evening, with only a few locations getting more than two tenths of an inch. Friday is expected to be overcast, but has a lower chance of precipitation than the rest of the weekend, according to the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office.

Friday morning has a 20% chance of thunderstorms, which should dissipate in the afternoon to just cloud cover. The storms are expected to return to North Texas Saturday and Sunday, with the strongest chance in the western and southern parts of the region.

Rain chances should disappear in time for Labor Day itself, bringing mostly sunny skies to the area.

Throughout the weekend, temperatures are not expected to rise above the 80s, with highs in the low 80s to start before rising to 87 on Monday. While it won’t be sweltering, extremely high humidity should keep things quite muggy throughout the weekend.
