Layne Riggs will begin his quest of a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series from the pole position in Saturday’s Sober or Slammer 200 at Darlington Raceway. The driver of the No. 34 Front Row Motorsports Ford F-150 has a lot of confidence heading into the Playoff-opening race after turning the fastest qualifying lap on Friday afternoon.
“I think it just shows that we’re the fastest truck here this weekend,” Riggs explained of the pole in an interview with FS2 following qualifying. “Practice, we were really fast to start. I feel like we fell off a little bit, but I think we know the exact adjustment we need to make. But I just love this racetrack.”
Chandler Smith, Riggs’ Front Row Motorsports teammate, will start alongside Riggs on the outside of the front row on Saturday.
Corey Heim, who heads into the Playoffs as the heavy championship favorite, will start third in the No. 11 TRICON Garage Toyota Tundra TRD PRO.
Grant Enfinger and Kaden Honeycutt rounded out the top-five qualifiers, which equated to a clean sweep of the top-five spots for Playoff drivers.
