The 2025 Climate Week NYC is taking place September 21 – 28 in New York City. The annual event is hosted by the non-profit Climate Group and held in conjunction with the meeting of the United Nations General Assembly. It will gather international leaders from politics, business, and science to advocate for climate change reforms. The sessions will indicate the future of climate change policy and provide insight for business leaders as to future regulations.

The overall theme of the 2025 meeting is “Power On.” The programming is divided into ten categories: Built Environment, Energy, Environmental Justice, Finance, Food, Health, Industry, Nature, Policy, and Sustainable Living. Each session is hosted by organizations and businesses throughout the city.

With over 300 sessions running simultaneously in person and virtually, finding the right schedule can be difficult. Here are four programs focused on the changing political landscape.

Charging ahead: driving the global EV transition in a shifting political landscape

Hosted by: Climate Group

Speakers:Albert Gore, Executive Director, Zero Emission Transportation Association (ZETA); Liane Randolph, Chair, California Air Resources Board; Moderated by Dominic Phinn, Head of Transport, Climate Group

Theme: This session explores how successful EV policies have thrived in regions with diverse political landscapes, offering actionable strategies to depoliticize the transition. By aligning electric vehicle initiatives with economic growth, job creation, and energy independence, we will uncover opportunities for collaboration and investment that can accelerate EV adoption, regardless of political shifts. Join us for insights on how the public and private sectors can forge a unified path toward a sustainable, electrified future.

Bridging the gap: How and where is philanthropy stepping in on climate?

September 23, 9:00 am – 10:00 am.

Hosted by: WINGS

Theme: With economic recoveries slowing, inflation on the rise, and shifting political priorities, national and multilateral climate commitments are facing uncertainty right when the need is bigger and more urgent than ever. But climate action cannot stop when priorities shift. Philanthropy is stepping in to keep momentum moving, and in many cases, helping to push it forward. This session will explore how philanthropy can help maintain ambition, support delivery, and strengthen resilience through periods of uncertainty.

Staying Hopeful and Engaged in Challenging Times

September 24, 10:00 am – 11:30 am.

Theme: The climate crisis and the current political situation are causing many people to feel discouraged, anxious, angry, and hopeless. These feelings can interfere with us taking actions to have the impact we want in the world.

Navigating change: Sustaining momentum on climate action amid political and organizational change

September 24, 1:30 pm – 4:00 om.

Hosted by: Pure Strategies

Theme: “Fireside Chat: The Urgency and Business Case for Nature Action: Putting nature on the balance sheet.” The rapid loss of nature and biodiversity presents significant risks to businesses, particularly those that are heavily reliant on nature and the resources it provides as the foundation of their product offerings. Institutional investors are increasingly attuned to the financial risks that nature loss represents in their portfolios and are taking an active and vocal role in engaging companies on this issue.
