There are very few things in motorsports that Tony Stewart hasn’t gotten his hands on and dominated. He’s probably one of the most versatile drivers there is. One-time IndyCar champion, thrice NASCAR Cup Series champion, two-times Chili Bowl winner, USAC Triple crown champion, Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) 2021 champion, the list is long. And not to mention all the different Hall of Fames he is part of.

In Stewart’s recent endeavour, he’s taken on the NHRA Top Fuel Dragster by storm. In his debut season, he was named the Rookie of the Year. And only in his second one in the drag racing series, he has already won twice, has four times made the top two in a race, and is currently sitting in P2 in the championship points table. No one would be surprised if Smoke even adds the NHRA championship to his elaborate list.

While Stewart may still be racing full-time, it’s mainly for the kicks now, more than glory. His priorities have changed ever since he and his wife, Leah Pruett, welcomed their first son, Dominic, last year.

On numerous occasions, Stewart has revealed how the race tracks relieve him of any kind of pressure just by looking at his son there. The same was the case at NHRA’s recent Indianapolis race. A home race always adds pressure to perform, but that did not seem to be the case, with Stewart having a ball with Dominic there.

Tony Stewart’s Son Is Already Showing Signs of Taking the Legacy Forward

Although Stewart got a P10 finish in Indy, he’s still leaving the track with delightful memories. Motorsports Journalist, Kelly Crandal, in an X post, described the heartfelt moment as: “If you had Tony Stewart in his NHRA fire suit holding a stuffed animal trying to get his son Dom to win the toddler race at Indianapolis in the year 2025, please collect your winnings.”

Well, basically, Dominic and some other toddlers at Indy had a Walker race. And Stewart had a winning strategy in place, standing at the finish line and luring Dominic with his favourite soft toy. It might sound crazy, but Baby Walker Nationals is an actual NHRA event.

Ahead of the race, Stewart and Dominic were practicing for the event. And Stewart’s team managed to capture the most adorable photo of Dom. Sharing it on X, they wrote: “Dom’s first Race Day! Getting some warmup laps in before the Baby Walker Nationals at 12:20 pm! Watch them along the return road in front of the grandstands.”

Well, these are the kinds of moments Stewart lives for now, trying to spend as much time with his son as possible. Remember when the NASCAR veteran had shared the story of how Dominic lightened up one of his bad days on track.

Stewart said in another interview, “I walked into the motorhome and Dom’s bassinet was right there at the top of the steps. I looked over the top of it, and he leaned his head back and looked up at me, and he just smiled. At that moment, I realized what’s going on with that racecar is just not as important as what it used to be.” What more does a father need?
