SAN ANTONIO – One person is dead after a crash on the North Side, according to San Antonio police.

Ruben Perez, 30, is charged with intoxication manslaughter after he drove the wrong way on Wurzbach Parkway.

The collision occurred around 3:15 a.m. in the 16300 block of Wurzbach Parkway near Starcrest Drive.

Perez was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes, police said, when his truck collided head-on with another car.

The driver of the second vehicle died at the scene, an SAPD preliminary report said. Their age and identification are pending from the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.

SAPD said the suspect was taken to the hospital for his injuries, where he was found to be intoxicated. The man was arrested and charged, the report said.

Two westbound lanes were closed for several hours Friday morning, but reopened around 7:15 a.m.
