Investigators are working to determine if a body found near the 100 block of Sea World Drive is connected to an earlier hit-and-run collision that happened in the same area, according to a press release shared by the San Diego Police Department.

Officers responded to a two-vehicle collision in that area at around 12:20 a.m. Saturday morning. While conducting their investigation they found that at least one of the drivers had left the scene before the police got there.

The call was cleared two hours later, at around 2 a.m.

Later in the day, at 1 p.m. the San Diego Police Department responded to a call in the same area regarding reports of a person being found near the scene of the earlier crash.

That individual was pronounced dead at the scene.

Now, police officers are investigating if the body found in the area is connected to the hit-and-run collision from the early morning.

As they conduct their investigation, authorities say that a SigAlert has been put in place due to the heavy traffic in that area.
