ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A Jacksonville man is recovering from injuries after a crash shut down part of I-95 in St. Johns County Saturday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP says this happened just before 7:30 p.m. when the 40-year-old was driving in a van going southbound on I-95 in the left lane.

Troopers say he overcorrected to the left, causing him to enter the left shoulder and crash his front bumper into a metal guardrail that divides the north and southbound lanes.

The vehicle rotated counterclockwise and overturned on its passenger side, causing the man to eject into the grass of the left shoulder.

The van blocked the left lane and left shoulder facing north, causing traffic to be blocked for some time before eventually reopening.

The man is recovering from serious injuries.
