Another new activity appears to be on the way to Amazfit smartwatches and fitness trackers. The company already offers more than 170 different workout modes for wearables like the Balance 2 (curr. $299.99 at Amazon).

A report by Gadgets & Wearables indicates that a Nordic walking workout type could be released in the future. Described as a walking workout for the whole body, walkers use poles to work the upper body as they move. Having gained popularity in its country of origin, Finland, as well as Sweden, Norway and Germany, it has recently started attracting attention in the US and the UK.

The Nordic walking activity was spotted in the code behind Zepp app version 9.11.1, which was released in mid-August. However, this workout cannot currently be selected by Amazfit wearable users. The change log for this update, now available to download from the Google Play Store, stated that it brought bug fixes, but no further details were provided.

This exercise type appears shortly after a Rucking workout was also discovered in the app’s code. It remains to be seen when the Nordic walking activity workout mode could be rolled out to users of Amazfit wearables.
