PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A fight between two men near downtown Phoenix on Saturday morning resulted in both their deaths, police said.
According to investigators, 37-year-old Warren Middlebrooks Jr. and 28-year-old Malik Hopkins got into a scuffle near 24th Street and Roosevelt Street around 7:45 a.m. A knife and a gun were pulled out.
It’s unclear who had which weapon but police said they were fighting over the gun. When first responders arrived, Hopkins was stabbed and shot, while Middlebrooks was only shot.
Both were taken to the hospital, where they later died.
No one else was involved. Police didn’t say what the fight was about. An investigation is ongoing.
