Manchester United will return to action at City after the international break.

After a frenetic start to the season, clubs are now taking a breather for the international break. But for Manchester United, there is an exciting game to look forward to when the Premier League returns.

Manchester United face Manchester City in the late Sunday kick-off in a fortnight, looking to register a statement away win.

There is bad news for City already ahead of the fixture, with one of their new signings ruled out with injury.

Manchester City are reeling from the news that new signing Rayan Cherki faces two months on the sidelines.

BBC Sport report that the £30 million summer signing from Lyon has a ‘quadriceps tear’.

It is a bitter personal blow for Cherki, who had vowed revenge against Manchester United after he lost 5-4 with Lyon in an epic Europa League clash last season at Old Trafford.

An emotionally bruised Cherki said when he joined City: “I am waiting for the game [to] kill them.”

It will be bitterly disappointing to him to now miss the first derby of the season, and a little amusing to United fans.

Pressure on Pep Guardiola

With all the media attention on Manchester United, it seems Manchester City’s poor start to the season has flown under the radar.

After three games it is Manchester United who are ahead of City in the Premier League table, despite registering only one win.

City have lost consecutive games to Tottenham and Brighton and have only three points.

While City can overtake United with a win next time out, all the pressure should be on them to do so on home turf.

A draw would suit Manchester United better, while a win would really solidify a nightmare start to the season for Pep Guardiola, who will be without Cherki for the matchup.
