TROY, Ala. – Two early second-half goals rocketed Troy to a 2-1 victory over Jacksonville at the Troy Soccer Complex.

After a scoreless first half, the Trojans (4-2-0) broke through in the 49th minute on an own goal, as a Jacksonville defender deflected Megan Hamm’s pass intended for Jiselle Daniels into the net. Just three minutes later, Daniels doubled the advantage with her Sun Belt-best seventh goal of the season, finishing a pass from freshman Isabella Hartofelis, who picked up the first assist of her career.

Jacksonville (2-2-0) cut the deficit in the 80th minute when Manuela Restrepo scored off an assist from Julia Deprat, but the Troy defense held them off in the final ten minutes.

Troy goalkeeper Taylor Richards made three saves, including two in the first half, to secure the win. The Trojans were outshot 14-8 and recorded three shots on goal to Jacksonville’s four.

The Trojans remain a perfect 3-0-0 at the Troy Soccer Complex this season and have surrendered just one goal at home this season.

Quotables
Head Coach Stuart Gore on the defense…
“I thought we were disciplined, and that’s what I asked them to be. The intensity was great. The goal we gave up, we just switched off a little bit, but all in all, I couldn’t be more proud.”

Gore on responding to Thursday’s loss…

“To bounce back against a team that’s going to do really well in their conference – that’s already beaten Georgia Southern 4-1, at Georgia Southern. A team in our conference that’s always a great team – it just shows great resilience from the girls.”

Jiselle Daniels on scoring another goal…

“I definitely feel good. It’s just my role for the team, so I definitely have to show up in that way. Once you get a couple, they keep coming, so hopefully that continues for the rest of the season.
