Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected through Monday afternoon across North Texas, with heavy rain and lightning and gusty winds possible, the National Weather Service said. Highs in the upper 80s are forecasted.

“Ensure you keep a close eye on the weather if spending time outdoors!” the weather service wrote on social media.

A slight chance of rain, about 20%, is forecasted for Tuesday, with high temperatures in the low 90s Tuesday and Wednesday.

More seasonable heat is expected to return Thursday, when the highs will likely reach the mid- to upper-90s.

A cold front is expected to hit the region by the end of the week, dropping high temperatures into the low 90s and even 80s.
