The Muscle Beach Championship heated up Venice Beach on Labor Day, showcasing body building competitors in different categories.
Fitness enthusiasts began to gather at the Venice Beach Recreation Center Monday morning as they are set to compete in various divisions, including bodybuilding, bikini, men’s physique and couples.
Candice Lang, one of the competitors, said she has been competing for 20 years or so, even winning first place at some of the events.
“For me, it’s about the gift and the blessing to be able to do this,” said Lang, who is competing in the Bikini Masters.
One of the competitors on stage may be recognizable as Joe Whitney, the competitions’ promoter, said Grammy-winning artist Lil Jon was set to compete Friday.
The Labor Day event took place in partnership with the city of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks.
