Nottingham Forest have completed a deadline day deal for Arsenal full-back Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Forest submitted a deal sheet before the 7pm deadline and had been racing to conclude a season-long loan for the Ukraine international, with personal terms in place.

Forest’s move for Zinchenko came after their deadline day move for Atletico Madrid full-back Javi Galan fell through.

Zinchenko, 28, has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Arsenal, where he made just 23 appearances across all competitions in 2024-25.

Olympique Marseille had been working on deal to sign Zinchenko earlier this month.

The full-back signed from Manchester City in 2022 in a deal worth £30million, along with an additional £2million in achievable add-ons.

Zinchenko was Mikel Arteta’s preferred starting left-back in his first two seasons at the Emirates Stadium, making 33 and 35 appearances respectively as Arsenal came close to winning the Premier League title for the first time since 2004.

Last season, academy-graduate Myles Lewis-Skelly was Arteta’s primary starting left-back, while Jurrien Timber, Jakub Kiwior and Riccardo Calafiori are all options in the position. Calafiori has started each of Arsenal’s three Premier League matches this season.

Forest have already signed two full-backs in this window with Nicolo Savona arriving in a €15m move from Juventus and Cuiabano signing from Botafogo.

They have enjoyed a busy summer with Omari Hutchinson, Dan Ndoye, Arnaud Kalimuendo and Douglas Luiz among a number of new arrivals at the City Ground.
