PHOENIX (AZFamily) ― Several people scattered through the Phoenix area won large sums of money from the Powerball on Labor Day weekend.
The two luckiest winners in the state Monday won $150,000 with a Powerball Plus Power Play. They both bought their tickets in the West Valley.
One winner bought their ticket in Surprise, at a Fry’s Marketplace near 163rd Avenue and Pinnacle Peak Road. The second was purchased in El Mirage, at the R and G Mini Mart near Grand Avenue and Thunderbird Road.
Three other players won $50,000 in the West Valley on Saturday.
Two winning tickets were sold in Surprise at a Walmart near Grand Avenue and Litchfield Road, and a Bashas’ near Waddell Road and Reems Road. The third was sold at an Avondale Fry’s Fuel Center near Dysart Road and Thomas Road.
Two other $50,000 tickets were sold near the western edges of the state on Saturday and Monday.
They were purchased at a Terrible’s in Lake Havasu City and Desert Springs Travel Center in Littlefield.
Monday’s winning Powerball numbers were 8, 23, 25, 40 and 53 with Powerball number 5. The Powerball jackpot remains unclaimed and is estimated at $1.3 billion, with the next drawing taking place Wednesday.
Powerball tickets cost $2 per play and are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
