A couple of teams fighting for playoff positioning meet up in what could be a preview of a first round matchup on Tuesday, Sept. 2 when the Indiana Fever visit the Phoenix Mercury at PHX Arena in Phoenix.
The game is scheduled to start at 10 p.m. EDT and will be broadcast on NBA TV. Fans looking to watch this WNBA game can do so for free by using DIRECTV, which offers a free trial, or FuboTV, which also offers a free trial and up to $30 off your first month. SlingTV doesn’t offer a free trial but has promotional offers available.
The Fever are 21-19 and holding down the seven seed in the standings entering the day. They are half a game behind the Golden State Valkyries and percentage points up on the Seattle Storm in eighth. Indiana is coming off a 75-63 loss to the Valkyries, its third loss to Golden State in three tries.
The Mercury are 25-14 and fourth in the standings, half a game back of the Las Vegas Aces and Atlanta Dream. They hold a 1.5 game advantage on the New York Liberty, who they are currently matched up with if the playoffs were to start today.
Phoenix and Indiana have split their season series so far with Tuesday’s game serving as a rubber match. When these teams met last month, the Mercury picked up a 95-60 win. About a week prior to that contest, the Fever won a 107-101 contest. After falling three assists shy of a triple-double in the first meeting, the Mercury’s MVP candidate, Alyssa Thomas, went for 18 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in the second meeting, along with three steals. Aliyah Boston had 22 points and 12 rebounds in the first meeting, but just four points and nine assists in the second meeting.
