PHOENIX — A man was rescued from the Echo Canyon Trail on Camelback Mountain on Wednesday, according to authorities.
The 70-year-old hiker, who is visiting Phoenix, is from Texas, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.
He started his hike on the Cholla Trail side of the mountain around 9 a.m.
However, he called his wife around 1 p.m. to say he was out of water and feeling weak, the fire department said.

He was unsure how to return to the parking lot and was halfway up Camelback Mountain on the Echo Canyon Trail when rescuers found him.
First responders gave him cold fluid IV therapy and used a big wheel stretcher to bring him down the trail, officials said.
The man was in stable condition and refused to be brought to a hospital, according to the fire department.
All of the rescuers safely left the mountain. No further details were made available.
