Some Milwaukee-based companies were recently recognized as some of the best employers in Wisconsin.
Forbes surveyed more than 160,000 employees from companies across the U.S. with at least 500 employees for its Aug. 21 “America’s Best Employers by State” report, in partnership with Statista. The report listed 75 companies as the best employers in Wisconsin, including some that are not headquartered in the Badger State.
So, which Milwaukee workplaces made the list?

Ten of the 75 companies that made Forbes’ list were headquartered in Milwaukee:
- Harley-Davidson (ranked No. 9 overall)
- Advocate Health (rank No. 10)
- Children’s Wisconsin (rank No. 15)
- Baird (rank No. 17)
- Medical College of Wisconsin (rank No. 18)
- Milwaukee Area Technical College (rank No. 27)
- Northwestern Mutual (rank No. 34)
- Rockwell Automation (rank No. 59)
- City of Milwaukee (rank No. 66)
- Milwaukee County (rank No. 75)
Several other Milwaukee-based companies made the list for best employers in other states.
Johnson Controls was named the 71st best employer in Florida; Marquis Companies was ranked the 26th best employer in Oregon; and Advocate Health also ranked in Georgia, Illinois and North Carolina.
