PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Every week, Arizona’s Family looks up restaurants recently inspected by Maricopa County’s Environmental Services Department. Restaurants with some of the highest numbers of “risk factors,” considered major health code violations by inspectors, are selected for our Dirty Dining Report. Here are the Valley restaurants that did not make the grade for Sep. 3, 2025:
State 48 Brewery – 345 W Van Buren Street, Phoenix
3 violations:
- Marinara sauce not kept hot enough
- Meat loaf and raw hamburger patties not kept cold enough
- Bacon jam not date marked correctly
Thirsty Lion Gastropub and Grill – 2218 E Williams Field Rd, Gilbert
3 violations:
- Dishwasher not cleaning properly
- Blanched fries in fridge not kept cold enough
- Grape tomatoes not at proper temperature
Sauce Pizza and Wine – 14418 N Scottsdale Rd, Scottsdale
3 violations:
- Dishwasher not washing hands before handling clean dishes
- Soup and cheese sauces not cooling properly
- Large hole in ceiling above mop sink
Uncle Bears Grill and Bar – 21151 E Rittenhouse Rd, Queen Creek
- Dishwasher not cleaning properly
- Heavy cream in fridge not cold enough
- Cooked chili kept past discard date
- Cheese sauce not cooling properly
Firebirds Grill – 3435 W Chandler Blvd, Chandler
4 violations:
- Employee handled dirty dishes then food without washing hands
- Hand wash sink blocked by A/C hose
- Tuna stored on tray above cooked beef ribs
- Shredded cheese not at proper temperature
