One of the NFL’s biggest rivalries kicks off the 2025 season on Thursday night when the Dallas Cowboys take on the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. The Cowboys will look to bounce back after being swept in the season series by the Eagles last season, 2-0, as they were defeated by a combined score of 75-13 in the two meetings.

Jerry Jones’ Cowboys made headlines last week when they honored the request of edge rusher Micah Parsons, trading him to the Green Bay Packers for two first-round picks and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark. Without Parsons coming off the edge in Philly, Week 1 just became a lot tougher to navigate for this Cowboys defense.

After a season-ending injury last year, Dak Prescott returns to the field for Dallas with a new weapon at his disposal in wide receiver George Pickens, alongside Pro Bowler CeeDee Lamb. New head coach Brian Schottenheimer is calling the shots on offense and looking to help Dallas bounce back after a 7-10 finish saw them miss the postseason for the first time since 2020.
Philly comes into this game led by Super Bowl LIX MVP and 2024 Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley, ready to defend its title and begin the journey toward a repeat. Head coach Nick Sirianni is looking for his offense to pick up where they left off as the No. 2 rushing attack in the league with the “tush push” still intact.

The Eagles are 8.5-point favorites over the Cowboys to open up the season on BetMGM, with the over/under installed at 47.5.
