Community members celebrated 904 Day on the Eastside along with the one-year anniversary of The Corner at Debs Store.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Thursday marked 904 Day in Jacksonville. People across the city came together to share their love and appreciation for Duval County.
One of those celebrations happened on Jacksonville’s Eastside. The Corner at Debs Store hosted a block party to commemorate the day and the store’s one-year anniversary.
The store opened on 904 Day in 2024 with a mission to bring fresh, healthy food to the Eastside community. Since then, employees told First Coast News business has been great.
“This store means a lot to the community because they don’t need to do a lot of traveling to get fresh fruits and veggies. We’re right in the neighborhood, they can come in,” Royce Fedd, works at Debs.
From Debs Store to the Jacksonville Roar, people were able to show some Jags pride with football activities along with music, food, and sidewalk art. The Blue Zones Project Jacksonville also brought in a local chef to hold cooking demonstrations with the fresh food that is found in Debs Store.
Angelia Smith has lived in Jacksonville her whole life and was excited to celebrate 904 Day at the block party. Her favorite thing about Jacksonville is the community.
“My community. I’m on the westside, I just love the community and everything I’ve seen the city come from going to school here and all the changes,” Smith explained.
Michael Robinson also had fun celebrating the city at the block party. He said he loves the culture of Jacksonville.
“Jacksonville is like a down-home country town. We’re a big city, but we’re a country town,” Robinson said.
Debs Store also gave out gift cards to raffle winners to celebrate the anniversary.
