SAN ANTONIO – A MacArthur High School teacher tragically died on campus Thursday morning after suffering a medical emergency during first period, according to school officials.

In a letter sent to families, Principal Hernandez said the campus was placed on a brief hold while EMS responded to the emergency. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but the teacher did not survive.

“It’s with a heavy heart that I regret to inform you, he did not survive,” Hernandez wrote. “I am refraining from using his name until I have been made aware that all the family members have been notified.”

The principal said the district’s Crisis Intervention Team will be on campus for the next several days to provide support for students, parents, and staff.
