DANVILLE, Va. (WSET) — NASCAR is gearing up for its return to the Bristol Motor Speedway, known as the “Last Great Colosseum,” for the Bass Pro Shops Night Race, and they’re recognizing a local group for the important work it does in the community and beyond.
Race officials visited God’s Pit Crew in Danville to announce the organization as this year’s Neighborhood Hero, acknowledging their significant relief work. The faith-based group has built and furnished 114 homes for victims of natural disasters and played a crucial role in recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene.

God’s Pit Crew will be formally honored during the pre-race ceremonies at Bristol on Saturday, September 13.
