JSO says the victim was a 49-year-old man who was not wearing a helmet.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 49-year-old man was killed when he was struck while riding a mini bike Thursday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
According to JSO, the man was traveling east on 45th Street West, and a box truck that was going westbound turned left into his path. The mini bike hit the rear wheel of the box truck.
The man was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounce dead.
Sgt. Robert Hungerford with JSO said the mini bike was “not authorized,” and had no lights. While JSO is still investigating, he said, “That vehicle should not be on the roadway, we do know that much so far.”
The man was also not wearing a helmet, Hungerford said.
This marks the 109th traffic fatality in Duval County in 2025.
