Demeche Williams, 35, is charged with murder in the Labor Day shooting of Steven Williams, 25, on Oakmoor Parkway.

HOUSTON — Houston police are trying to find the gunman charged in the shooting death of a 25-year-old man earlier this week.

Steven Williams was shot multiple times on Monday, Sept. 1, in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Oakmoor Parkway near West Airport Boulevard in southwest Houston.

The victim’s girlfriend said a man she knew only as “Meche” banged on their door that morning and said he wanted to talk to the victim. She said he was angry about something her boyfriend posted on Instagram.

The victim went back into the apartment, but police said a Ring doorbell video shows the suspect didn’t leave. He was seen pacing back and forth with a gun. Williams went back outside a little while later, and that’s when he was shot three times in the parking lot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Houston police interviewed another resident who confirmed that he heard the suspect banging on the door and then saw him shoot Williams multiple times.

HPD homicide detectives have identified the gunman as 35-year-old Demeche Williams, and now he’s wanted on a murder charge.

Anyone with information is asked to call HPD or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
