Low-level moisture returns heading into Friday, so morning lows won’t be as comfortable. High clouds from Tropical Storm Lorena will begin to build across Texas on Friday, but the afternoon will still be quite hot.
Look for lows in the 70s and highs in the upper 90s to near 100 degrees Friday afternoon. South Texas remains in the moist heat with highs in the upper 90s and lows in the upper 70s. Increased rain chances are expected late Saturday with the highest chances Sunday and Monday.

1. Texas Legislature ends second special session after accomplishing many priority items
In the late night hours of Wednesday into Thursday morning, the Texas Legislature officially gaveled out its second special session of the year, sine die.
The Texas House was the first to gavel out late Wednesday, and shortly after midnight, the Texas Senate joined them in closing this chapter.
2. Texas Rep. Chip Roy leads bipartisan coalition to restrict lawmakers from trading stocks
On Capitol Hill, there is new momentum in the bipartisan push to restrict lawmakers and their families from trading individual stocks. An unusual, bipartisan coalition, led by U.S. Rep. Chip Roy, R-Austin, introduced new legislation Wednesday to enact the trading limit, framing it as key to restoring trust in Congress.

3. Navy reverses demotion of Rep. Ronny Jackson, former White House doctor
U.S. Rep. Ronny Jackson announced that the Navy has restored his retired rank of rear admiral, overturning a 2022 demotion that followed a scathing investigation that found major issues with his behavior while he was the top White House physician.
