Angels manager Ron Washington, who stepped aside from his duties a week ago due to undisclosed health concerns, will remain on medical leave for the rest of the season, the team announced Friday.

Angels General Manager Perry Minasian said Washington has not been feeling well and underwent medical tests, leading to the decision to keep the 73-year-old on leave for the balance of the season. No other details were released.

Bench coach Ray Montgomery was named interim manager, with infield coach Ryan Goins moving up to bench coach.

Washington is in his second season as the team’s manager.
