Here are the area’s top high school sports performers for Sept. 3. Top performers are based off the results sent in by the coaches. 

Wednesday, Sept. 3

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Jake Hallett, White Oak: Hallett placed fifth in 17:52 to help the Vikings finish third as a team a seven-team team meet at Northeast Creek Park. 

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Annabella Drake, Jacksonville: Drake was third in 22:05 to help the Cardinals finish third as a seven-team team meet at Northeast Creek Park.

Chloe Lewis, White Oak: Lewis was sixth in 23:34.

Issy Maxwell, White Oak: Maxwell placed second in 21:58 to lead the Vikings to first place in the Northeast Creek meet with 33 points, 22 ahead of D.H. Conley. 

GIRLS GOLF

Landry Clifton, Croatan: The senior was second at 88 in a Coastal 5-A/6-A Conference match at North Shore Country Club.

Kenzie McDowell, Swansboro: The sophomore was third. 

SOCCER

Karter Smith, Northside: The freshman scored in a 1-1 tie with D.H. Conley.

TENNIS

Sawyer Gowan, Onslow Early College: The senior won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and 8-5 at No. 1 doubles in a 6-3 team defeat to White Oak.

Elli Stallard, Onslow Early College: The sophomore won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles and at No. 1 doubles.

Ryleigh Cline, Swansboro: The junior won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and 8-2 at No. 2 doubles in a 9-0 team win over East Carteret.

Grace Jass, Swansboro: The senior won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and 9-7 at No. 1 doubles.

Madeleine Owen, Swansboro: The junior won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles and at No. 1 doubles.

Gabriella Palmer, Swansboro: The senior won 7-5, 3-6, 14-12 at No. 5 singles.

Olivia Saari, Swansboro: The sophomore won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and at No. 2 doubles.

Bailey Busby, White Oak: The junior won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6 singles in a 5-3 team win over East Carteret.

Emily Fright, White Oak: The senior won 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) at No. 5 singles and 8-6 at No. 3 doubles.

Gabrielle Huerena, White Oak: The junior won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.

Jolin Maloy, White Oak: The junior won 6-4, 7-5 at No. 4 singles and 8-6 at No. 2 doubles. 

VOLLEYBALL

Dixie Johnson, Southwest: The senior had 12 kills, one ace and one block in a 25-9, 25-14, 25-10 victory over Kinston.

Madison Williams, Southwest: The sophomore had nine kills and five aces.
