The National Weather Service called off a flood watch for the Phoenix area for the evening of Sept. 4 as chances of rain diminished.
As of 9 p.m., there was a 30% chance of thunderstorms overnight. The forecast said the greatest chance for rain was between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. The low was expected to be 78, with winds expected to calm after midnight.
Friday, Sept. 5, was forecast to have a high of 94 with a 30% chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon, rising to 40% at night.
Saturday, Sept. 6, was forecast to have a high of 95 with a 30% chance of showers early, diminishing to a 20% chance of storms at night.
Sunday, Sept. 7, was expected to be sunny, with a high of 99.

- Never drive into flooded roadways.
- Avoid low-lying washes and underpasses.
- Keep updated on alerts from the National Weather Service.
- Watch for rapid rises in creeks, streams and normally dry washes.
Dust storm safety tips for drivers
- If driving on the freeway, exit if possible.
- Check traffic around your vehicle and begin slowing down.
- Pull off the roadway as far as possible.
- Turn off all vehicle lights, including emergency flashers.
- Set the emergency brake and take your foot off the brake pedal.
- Stay in your vehicle with your seatbelt fastened and wait for the storm to pass.
