The historic Maceo Elks Lodge #8, the oldest Elks Lodge in the State of Florida, proudly welcomed three new Brothers into its ranks during a moving initiation ceremony. Affectionately known as “Triple XXX” the new Brothers are: Bro. Larry Holmes, Bro. Skylar McKnight and Bro. Willie Cook. This addition marks another milestone in the Lodge’s 127-year history of service, fellowship, and community impact. Founded on December 7, 1898, Maceo Elks Lodge #8 has stood as a beacon of leadership and unity in Jacksonville, Florida dedicated to uplifting communities through charity, justice and brotherly love. “Our new Brothers represent the future of our Lodge and the continuation of Maceo ‘s powerful legacy,” said Bro. Jamaal with Two A’s Brown, Brotherhood Chairman. “It is an honor to serve them and walk beside them as they embrace our shared values.”
The Lodge is currently led by Exalted Ruler William Elliott, a graduate of Florida A&M University (FAMU), College of Pharmacy. In the structure of the Elks, the Exalted Ruler holds a role equivalent to that of a president, guiding the Lodge with vision and commitment. Membership in Maceo Elks Lodge #8 is open to men from all walks of life, including those from the military, blue-collar industries, and professional fields. All through a college degree is not required, a strong commitment to community service, charity and brotherhood is required. The Improved Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the World (IBPOEW) spans across the United States, the Caribbean, and South America. Shown are the inducted brothers at the ceremony.
