American Airlines flights have resumed after a system outage grounded flights.
Multiple reports on social media said planes were unable to take off because of technical problems. According to reports on X, one pilot said he couldn’t sign the maintenance form to be cleared for takeoff because his computer was not working.

American Airlines released the following statement in response to the outage:

“A technology issue impacted connectivity for some of our systems earlier today. We worked with our partners to resolve the issue and the applications that our customers and teams use are now back up and fully operational. Though we have experienced delays as a result, we have not canceled any flights at this time. We apologize to our customers for their experience.”

One passenger posted on social media that he was stuck on the plane at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. The airline told him that there was a “systemwide outage.”
Another user on X shared a photo of the American Airlines Special Services counter with a “closed” sign at Orlando International Airport.
“Hi @AmericanAir is anyone able to help us in Orlando? There’s quite a big queue now,” the person said.
American later responded that the ticket counter had reopened.
