The DP World Tour rolled into town at Argentario Golf Club, Monte Argentario, Italy, for the Italian Open this week.
With the ongoing power struggle between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, the DP World Tour seems to have been somewhat forgotten in the midst of the malaise.
However, the DP World Tour is still a great breeding ground for some hugely talented up-and-coming young players.
Rory McIlroy recently gave the DP World Tour a huge boost by committing to play in the World India Championship at Delhi Golf Club in October.
However, there aren’t many truly big names at the Italian Open this week. Perhaps one of the more well-known players competing is Marcel Siem.
The 44-year-old German is the defending champion, but he won’t be at Argentario Golf Club this weekend unfortunately.
Marcel Siem slumps to 12-over par 82 at the Italian Open
Siem carded an opening round of one-over par 71 on Thursday.
However, he experienced an absolute nightmare out on the course on Friday, shooting a round of 82 in the end.

Incredibly, his round consisted of just one bogey, three birdies, three double bogeys, a triple bogey and a quintuple bogey nine.
What a disaster of a round that was for Siem.
It will very much be a case of back to the drawing board for him now.
He should channel his memories from his performance at Pebble Beach on the PGA Tour way back in 2015!
Marcel Siem claimed to hold Pebble Beach course record
When speaking back in December 2024, the German made an extremely bold claim about his performance at the 2015 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
He suggested that he held the course record after firing a 10-under par round of 62 at the tournament 10 years ago.
However, Siem got his numbers slightly wrong it seems.
Back in 2015, he did play extremely well during his third round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
However, he posted a round of 63, rather than the 62 he claimed he shot.
The course record at Pebble Beach stands at 60, and is held by Wyndham Clark. Before the 2023 US Open champion fired that round in 2024, 62 was the course record, held by Tiger Woods amongst others.
