The Houston Police Department and federal government are working together on readiness drills.

HOUSTON — The Houston Police Department is partnering with other local and federal law enforcement  agencies and the federal government for a training exercise in the city.

The drills are running through Friday, September 19. They are designed to strengthen collaboration between law enforcement at every level.

So what can you expect?  According to HPD, residents may notice helicopters overhead or hear unusual noise during the day and evening hours as part of the exercises. Officials say the training is routine and aimed at improving readiness and public safety.

For security reasons, the exercises are closed to the public and no viewing opportunities will be offered.
