A heated rivalry led to a fight that forced the game to be suspended. Houston police said they’re not sure if any shots were fired.
HOUSTON — Friday night’s game between Yates and Madison was suspended after a fight broke out in the stands, according to Houston police.
It happened at Barnett Stadium off the South Loop near the Gulf Freeway.
According to police, the situation got loud, and some people reported hearing gunshots.
Police said it’s unclear if any shots were fired, and they have no reports of anyone being injured. They said they got reports of people stomping on the metal bleachers, which could have made a sound similar to a gunshot.
Authorities said at least two people were in custody, although it’s unclear if that was just for questioning or if they were being charged with a crime.
