Mario Henry Rodriguez
OBITUARY
Mario Rodriguez, 74, passed away peacefully at home after a long illness. He was born in Sterling, Illinois, to Enrique and Naomi (Carrera) Rodriguez. He was the fourth of eleven siblings and their oldest son.
Mario grew up in Sterling and attended Sterling schools where he was active in church, wrestling and choir. After graduating from Sterling High School in 1969 and attending college in Wisconsin, he moved to Colorado, then to San Diego, where he worked in sales. In 2006, he earned an IT Network Specialist degree from Coleman College, graduating at the top of his class.
Mario loved music (especially blues and jazz), was dedicated to his family, made friends wherever he went, was an expert crossword puzzler and loved a silly joke.
Mario is survived by his wife, Vicki; daughters, Bianca (Erik) Fernandez and Eugenia Garcia; grandchildren Sebastian and Lucia; and his little dog, Mia, who was his constant companion. He will be missed by his best friend, Mario Medrano, with whom he would have breakfast every week while they solved each other’s problems. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Olivia, Linda, and Victor.
A celebration of life will be held in Sterling and San Diego.
