West Virginia and Ohio will battle on Saturday, as the Mountaineers travel to Athens for a rare Group of Five road game. That’s certainly taken into account in Vegas, were the Mountaineers are only 3.5-point favorites. That has not scared away the public. Actually, it has not scared away big money. Only 53% of total bets have been on WVU as of Friday afternoon, but 94% of total money is on the Mountaineers. That means the ‘sharp’ money has been heavily on West Virginia.
So, we know how the bettors feel, but what about everyone else? EerSports has taken this opportunity to look around the industry for the experts’ thoughts on the game and if they agree. Here’s what we found.
Starting with the computers, ESPN’s Football Power Index gives the Mountaineers a 53.6% chance of winning. PFF’s Greenline makes West Virginia the slight favorite at 52.4%, while Bill Connelly’s SP+ likes WVU even more at 67% t win, and a final projected score of 32-25.
As for living human beings, David Kenyon over at BleacherReport has WVU winning, 30-17. Two out of the three experts over at AthlonSports have the Mountaineers winning.
And…. that’s it. Because neither team is ranked, not many college football national writers are taking the time to pick this week’s game.
