Amazon has opened a new delivery station in Jacksonville, promising to create dozens of full- and part-time jobs, as well as new driver opportunities. The facility is part of Amazon’s effort to enhance the last mile of its order process, ensuring faster deliveries to customers.

This comes after an announcement where Amazon had selected Jacksonville as one of the five locations in their recent expansions in the state.

The 100,000 square-foot delivery station will receive packages from nearby Amazon Fulfillment and Sortation Centers, which will then be loaded into delivery vehicles for distribution. This setup not only speeds up the delivery process but also offers entrepreneurs the chance to build their own businesses delivering Amazon packages. Additionally, independent contractors can enjoy the flexibility of being their own boss through Amazon Flex.

Amazon officials say that full-time hourly employees are eligible for comprehensive benefits from day one, including full health, vision, and dental coverage, a 401k with a 50 percent company match, and up to 20 weeks of paid parental leave. The company also provides continuing education opportunities through its Career Choice program, which pre-pays tuition for courses in in-demand fields.
