PHOENIX — A pedestrian is dead after a Friday evening collision involving a semi-truck in central Phoenix, authorities said.

The pedestrian has not yet been identified. However, the driver was 40-year-old Brian Edwards, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Officers responded to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian near 27th and Glenrosa avenues around 8:40 p.m.

When police arrived on scene, they found an adult man suffering from life-threatening injuries. The Phoenix Fire Department took the man to a nearby hospital where he later died of his injuries.

According to Phoenix police, detectives learned that Edwards was repositioning the semi-truck and the passenger was by the truck after exiting.

Edwards remained on the scene, was evaluated for impairment and then booked on related charges.
