Obituary For Gerry Lewis Butler Gerry Lewis Butler, 77, was reunited with our Heavenly Father on August 15, 2025, in Azle, Texas. Born on May 14, 1948, in Spanish Fork, Utah, Gerry lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to family and faith, and a deep love for the open road. From an early age, Gerry embraced the values of diligence and perseverance while working on his family’s farm until graduating high school. He started his professional journey as a long-haul truck driver for C.R. England Trucking. A fateful event in Fort Worth led him to plant his boots in Texas. Once settled in Texas, Gerry opened his own automotive repair shop for a short while before transitioning into excavation and construction work. He found a calling operating heavy equipment and spent roughly four decades in the field. For over 30 years, he served as Foreman and Blade Operator at R.E. Cupp Construction, where with his unwavering commitment and expertise he helped build most of the Alliance area. Gerry served his country as a Marine during the Vietnam War. His service was a testament to his courage and sense of duty—qualities that remained with him throughout his life. In retirement, Gerry found joy in simple pleasures: riding his beloved Black Pearl a custom Harley Davidson Dyna Wide Glide motorcycle through the Texas backroads with his friends as well as feeding and loving the neighborhood deer who came to love him too. A Harley-Davidson enthusiast and lifelong biker, he cherished every moment on two wheels. He was also an avid hot rodder with an encyclopedic knowledge of classic cars and a farmer at heart who never lost his admiration for tractors and heavy machinery. Gerry’s faith was central to who he was. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he knew our Heavenly Father deeply and lived by principles of kindness, integrity, and service. He is survived by his wife of 31 years Rebecca Butler; daughter Afton Butler (Hunter Young); son Kory Butler (Michelle Drahota); Sisters Linda (Durrell) Farnsworth and Diane (Marvin) Luster, and many other family and friends who will miss him deeply. He was reunited in Heaven with his loving parents Afton and Samuel Butler; brothers Ward, LaMar, Richard, and James Butler; niece Wendy Luster Johnson; along with many family members and close friends who held a special place in his heart and world. Those who knew Gerry remember him as a hardworking man who never gave up—a dedicated husband, father, friend, and mentor whose impact will be felt for generations. He was immensely proud of his children and carried himself with quiet strength and humility. Rest in Power Gerry Lewis Butler may your memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know him. Ride Hard Ride Fast. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor.
