SAN ANTONIO – A local institution is celebrating almost 100 years of service by taking readers back in time.

The San Pedro Branch Library celebrated its 95th anniversary from 10:30 to 12:30 on Saturday, taking patrons back in time to the 1930s, when the library was established.

Guests could enjoy the celebration with plenty of free, family-friendly activities, including vintage crafts like paper kites and paper dolls, as well as vintage tabletop toys, and more!

“The San Pedro Park Branch Library was the first building in San Antonio built specifically to house a branch of the library system,” said the library in a press release. “Nestled on the edge of historic San Pedro Springs Park, the library’s Spanish architecture features vaulted ceilings and two large archways. It was designed by father and son architects Atlee and Robert Ayres.”

The historic building was fully renovated in 2007, restoring the building to its near-original condition.
