Through L.O.S.T — short for Loved Ones Stay Together — authorities can access critical information during emergencies.
DALLAS COUNTY, Iowa — Families of loved ones at higher risk of becoming lost or disoriented can now help law enforcement access critical information during emergencies.
Loved Ones Stay Together, or L.O.S.T. for short, allows families to file critical information with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department about loved ones who have medical conditions like Dementia, or Alzheimer’s or autism.
The information is securely stored and is only released to first responders if law enforcement deem it necessary during an active investigation.
“This program gives families peace of mind and provides our deputies with valuable information when every second counts. The L.O.S.T. Program is another tool that helps us protect our most vulnerable residents and keep loved ones together,” Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante said in the release.
L.O.S.T. registration forms are available on the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office website and mobile app. There is no cost to participate.
In the event a loved one goes missing, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department encourages families to contact law enforcement immediately to complete a missing person report.
